Feist vs Panda Bear
Sonic och Musikbyrån är överens, Feist har gjort årets bästa skiva. Det är ett val som det är ganska svårt att bli varken upprörd eller glad över. The Reminder är en väldigt väldigt bra skiva. Enligt last.fm är det den skiva jag lyssnat på mest under 2007. Då kan man ju kanske tycka att jag borde hålla med dem?
Det gör jag inte. The Reminder hör kanske hemma på topp tio men ju fler årsbästalistor jag läser, ju mer jag tänker, ju mer jag känner efter desto säkrare blir jag på att årets skiva för mig var Person Pitch. Många långa sommardagar gick jag omkring som i ett liten bubbla fylld av små ljud och Noah Lennox röst. Det finns så mycket som känns äkta och nära och fantastiskt med Person Pitch. Jag kan fortfarande tappa andan lite när jag lyssnar på Take Pills och kommer till, ni vet, där det skiftar från att vara lite moloket till att vara ett party i dina öron som alla är bjudna till.
Det är skillnaden mellan massor av bra, massor av fint, och magi. Det totalt spikraka i hur Noah använder sin röst och skriver sina texter mitt i den där kaosartade men ändå så väna ljudmattan. Jag får myror i brallorna, jag får svårt att sitta still. Jag vill sätta mig ner och lyssna, fokusera. Jag vill maila folk jag knappt känner och skriva långa pretantiösa utläggningar om hur magnifika de arga korta små framvästa t-ljuden i Im Not är. Den sortens skiva dyker inte upp så ofta. Jag kan inte komma ihåg att jag kände så för någon skiva under hela 2006.
The Reminder är ett utmärkt hantverk, fullt av små glimmrande toner och Leslies fantastiska röst. Men jag är övertygad om att om några år, när jag ska lyssna på Person Pitch, kommer jag fortfarande vara tvungen att ta några djupa andetag för att förbereda mig.
Så jag blir tvungen att hålla med Pitchfork, istället. Tss.
