Så jag sitter och äter lunch på taket på det där mediehuset vid Globen där jag jobbar och på vägen nedanför åker ekipage med nyblivna studenter förbi. De har druckit sen kl nio på morgonen, förra veckan, låter det som. Och de vägrar sluta skråla gitarrintrot till Seven Nation Army.
När jag tog studenten kan jag bara minnas den där bedrövliga studentsången, lite tjalalalalaaa och så “fy fan vad vi är bra”-dängan. Inte hade vi den goda smaken att vråla något som skulle kunna motsvara Seven Nation Army. Icke!
Och så blir det EM i fotboll och samma låt spelas i början av varje match. Samma låt, samma skanderande av en av de bästa gitarrslingorna någonsin.
Wikipedia talar om att det hela började när ett fotbollslag i Belgien började använda riffet som kampsång. Lag som mötte dem tog med sig sången hem och idag används låten av fans till så olika sporter som bandy och karate i länder som Australien, England och USA.
Vad man ska tänka om den här låtens långsamma världsherravälde? I don’t know, jag tror jag lämnar ordet till Jack White.
